Functional Description
The "flux valve" is a magnetic azimuth detector that senses the direction of the horizontal component of the earth's magnetic field relative to thelongitudinal axis of the aircraft and converts info to an electrical signal which when applied to the gyro, maintains continuous alignment to the actual mag heading, resulting in drift-free heading reference, self-maintained to an accuracy of porm 2 degrees

Located in a stable magnetic location on the aircraft such as a wing tip, vertical stablizer, or tail cone; attachedis a compensator that uses magnets to cancel the single-cycle error caused by magnetic disturbances
