Properties:

An item used to produce an exothermic type of atmosphere for use in heat treating furnaces to prevent surface oxidation of ferrous materials, where decarburization is not a factor, by partially burning a predetermined quantity of hydrocarbon gas with air in a refractory insulated combustion chamber. Used for such processes as annealing, tempering of steel, copper or silver brazing of steel, silver brazing on non-ferrous mixture in powder metallurgy and sintering of carbon powders.
