Tdesigned to monitor particles as small as 0.3 micron; draws air into sensir at rate of 1 cubic foot per minute; air flow passes through view volume-light generated by laser diode; particles deflect light energy to a solid state photodiode where each burst of light is converted to a pulse of electrical energy; digital counter accumulates the pulses according to size selected; sample air is then filted, removing all particles larger than 0.2 micron before air is exhausted back into room
