Compact detector system that provides a shrill, audible alert of presence of pulsed laser radiation above the level of eye safety; unit is about half the size of a pack of cigarettes, and in normal use, alarm sounds when the detected energy level exceeds a threshold 50 times lower than the level at which a possibility of eye damage exists
