Compostable. These bags are treated w/a cornstarch additive to speed up their degradation in compost piles. They are intended to hold food waste, grass clippings, leaves, and other animal and plant material for disposal by composting. When disposed of in landfills, these bags offer no significant advantage over other plastic bags since the degradation additive is usually not effective in landfill conditions
