Properties:

A radiopaque item constructed of absorbent cotton gauze, lint-free, or gauze covered materials or nonwoven fabric. Often prewashed for absorbency. Often double wrapped for sterility. By being easily accounted for, this item minimizes its handling in the contaminated state by hospital personnel and eliminates the transfer of nonsterile residues to the patient. Used to absorb blood and exudate from the abdominal section during surgery. Excludes sponge, surgical.
