Properties:

A self-contained item with a knob or a key actuated pawl, designed to fasten panels, doors, and the like, to frames or adjoining surfaces. The pawl may be preset to accommodate frames or surfaces of a specific thickness, or may be adjustable to accommodate frames or surfaces of variable thicknesses. For items with adjustable pawls, the pawl must be actuated through continual rotation of the knob or key until the pawl engages the adjoining surface.
