Special Features:

Four rudder angle transmitter units-feedback in the steering system for steering control, two mounted on each rudder actuator assembly; each rudder angle transmitter unit (ratu) is wired to is associated steering control unit (scu) in the aft steering stand on its side of the ship; each ratu contains a center-tapped potentiometer with +/-12 vdc excitation provided by its scu; each ratu potentiometer provides rudder angle feedback to its corresponding scu; the rudder angle feedback is 0.25 v/degree, positive voltage for starboard (right) rudder angles and negative voltage for port (left) rudder angles; each ratu is equipped with two adjustable limit switches; one that will open when the rudder exceeds 35.5 degrees to the port and one for 35.5 degrees to the starboard; these limit switches are used to interrupt the hpu proportional valve command between the pump valve electronics and the proportional valve solenoids to protect against a failure in the steering controls
