Product Definition Definition of approved item name (AIN): "TAPE,CLOTH,METAL SEAM SEALING"

A narrow strip of cloth impregnated with an adhesive sealing compound used particularly for sealing against pressure, such as pressurized cabins, riveted fuel tanks or other liquid containers. It is suitable not only as a sealer but also as a dissimilar metal insulator for the prevention of electrolysis causing galvanic corrosion. The adhesive compound may be covered with cloth or fabric, such as buckram interleaf, to prevent sticking in the roll and is discarded in use. Excludes tape, insulation, electrical; tape, joint, wallboard; tape, gummed; tape, adhesive, rubber; and strip, coated cloth.
